Hair Plugs
Good hair has often been considered as a sign of healthy body, but gone are the days when people used to have good hair even at the age of 70. Moreover the signs of baldness are getting showed even among adults aged 25.
Increased pollution, bad food habits and even bad water in many cases are its main causes. Permanent hair restoration has been seen as the best solution for Male pattern baldness and the Female pattern baldness.
Hair plugs surgery Procedure:
Hair plugs have been one of the best permanent hair restoration solutions for the problem of male and female pattern baldness.
Technically the process involves removal of skin with live hair follicles from one part of the body( generally from the horseshoe shaped area in the back of the head ), which is called as the donor site to the balding spot on the same person’s body part referred to as the recipient site.
The technique of hair plug surgery follows the rule that “If the skin tissue from one part of the body (donor site) is implanted to the other part (recipient site), then the recipient site inherits the characters of the donor site.”
This is the reason why the horse shoe shaped area in the back of the head, which is genetically programmed not to fall out is used as the donor site.
Important factors to consider:
It is always important to consult your doctor before undergoing the hair plug surgery.
Even though the success rate of the surgery is very high, absolutely reliable and can be completed in a few hours. One has to note that, at least a month is required for complete healing, during which period one might experience lot of headache. In case the surgery is not done for the whole forehead (for example it is done only in the fore front of the head) there is a chance that the hair in the region near the recipient site which has not undergone surgery might have an unusual hair loss due to the small wounds incurred near that area during the surgery. However the chances are very very rare.
Cost of hair plugs surgery:
The cost of the surgery varies from country to country, the total area for which grafting has to be done as well as the skill and reputation of the doctor or clinic. In countries such as USA or Canada the process may cost US$4 to US$ 10 at most of the clinics, but in some clinics it can even cost up to US$25. Countries in Middle East charge less and the cost can vary between US$3 to US$8.
But a best bargain is the south East Asian countries such as India where the charges vary from $US2 to at most US$6 at some of the best clinics in the country.
However, experts are of the opinion that the cost of hair plugs are definitely lesser than the total amount one spends on hair care products for protecting one’s hair and with the present technology, it looks almost natural and sometimes even better, hence it is definitely worth the cost.
